Anyone can manually initiate a scan and remove malware with Malwarebytes for Mac without spending a penny. The standard scanner that checks for malware on your system and removes it is free. Go to Security, click the pop-up menu next to Allow applications downloaded from, then choose the sources from which you’ll allow software to be installed: App Store: Allows apps only from the Mac App Store. There are now two versions of Malwarebytes for Mac, a free version and a premium version. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Privacy & Security in the sidebar. At the Malwarebytes application screen, choose “Scan” to scan the Mac right away for any threats If any threats or junk is found, Malwarebytes will report it to you on the next screen, otherwise you’ll see a screen saying the Mac is clean and clear.
